RagingWire Data Centers, a provider of solutions to power data centers, announced that both of its data center campuses have been re-certified for Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI (News - Alert) DSS) version 2.0.
The PCI DSS compliance assessment was performed by BrightLine CPAs & Associates, a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) that provides assurance and compliance services to companies worldwide.
According to Douglas Barbin, principal and PCI practice leader at BrightLine, the protection of sensitive cardholder data at all layers is a must-have for a company that plays any role in credit card processing. "RagingWire's continuing compliance to the PCI DSS highlights their dedication to protecting cardholder data and providing secure data center environments for their merchant and service provider customers."
The assessment encompassed its two Sacramento data centers (CA1 and CA2) and its latest data center in Northern Virginia (VA1). The assessment included an exhaustive review of data center security records, operating procedures, network security protocols and personnel security efforts.
By validating PCI DSS version 2.0 compliance, the company provides commercial and government customers that process credit card transactions through RagingWire's data centers with an assurance that they meet the industry standard for payment card information security.
"RagingWire's commitment to data protection is evident in our compliance with the PCI DSS and is a differentiator for us among other colocation providers," said William Dougherty, vice president of information technology at RagingWire, in a statement.
"In our daily operations, we stress the importance of physical and logical security,” Dougherty added. “We enforce strict controls and have invested heavily in our employees and infrastructure to protect our customers' computing environments. Our compliance simplifies the certification process for our customers who rely daily on our controls."
PCI DSS compliance assessment focuses on IT security policy, data protection, network access management and monitoring, physical security, software design and organization vulnerability management.
In addition to PCI DSS compliance, RagingWire's Sacramento and Ashburn data center facilities are also SSAE 16 Type 2 SOC 1 examined with zero exceptions.
