Monitoring and managing power in a data center, regardless of size, can improve the efficiency of a facility, reduce costs and reduce the impact on the environment. Server Technology (News - Alert) is a provider of data center power monitoring solutions to help manage power capacity, reduce downtime and improve energy efficiency.
The company will be co-presenting with Box, provider of a secure content sharing platform, this Thursday at the Teledata show, a one-day educational conference where IT, facilities and data center professionals and executives come together to learn from each other in a unique collaborative setting in Santa Clara.
Unlike speaking sessions at other conferences that are scattered with product pitches and vendor generalizations, Teledata’s track sessions are designed for end-users by end-users, to encourage peer-to-peer discussion of their successes, missteps, strategies, best practices and the future of technologies that most interest them.
Jeff Routledge, director of Data Center Operations at Box (News - Alert), and Calvin Nicholson, senior director of Software & Firmware for Server Technology will be presenting, “Managing power in a hyper growth environment--How Box, the fastest growing SaaS (News - Alert) company in history manages an ever-changing data center environment.”
Today, more than 15 million people and 150,000 businesses worldwide use Box. Its data center challenges include scalability, power usage, efficiency, capacity, remote management and access, third party integrations (DCIM and other solutions), upgrades and support. The company uses Server Technology’s SPM and PDUs to manage power in its three data centers, monitoring power usage, redundancy and utilizing reports and trends to maximize efficiency.
Server Technology’s SPM is a data center power monitoring and management solution that offers features such as predictive analytics and trending capabilities. One of the breakthrough functions of the predictive trending feature is the ability to explore “What if” scenarios, allowing users to get a preview into future trends and see what will or will not work in your data center. The predictive trending analysis feature uses various cabinet traits to enable IT to view and analyze past and future power-related data, essentially presenting IT with a valuable diagnostic tool.

“We participate in the Teledata show every year. It’s a tremendous way for us to stay in front of our Northern California customers and talk about our new technology,” Julie Brown, marketing manager, Server Technology, told TMCnet. “This year it’s even more exciting because of the presentation that we’re doing with Box. Box grows by the minute and it’s a tribute to Server Technology’s SPM solution, our PDUs and the data center experience of our engineering team coming together to give them the tools they need to manage their enterprise data center power.”
