Raritan (News - Alert) International India, a provider of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and data center power management solutions, has been selected by Choice Hotels to enable uninterrupted access and control of its data centers.
Choice Hotels is a worldwide leading lodging company. The data center handles reservations, cancellations and other service requests from around 500,000 guest rooms across its eleven franchises. Any disruption in service would lead to lost revenue and unhappy customers.
One of the challenges Choice Hotels was facing was to operate the data center located more than an hour from the IT team. Choice Hotels also wanted to track the movement of server/equipment and monitor energy usage as well as environmental conditions in remote cabinets.
The company turned to Raritan after finding that its solutions ranked high in terms of remote management capabilities in power, KVM and DCIM.
Following the deployment, Raritan’s solutions have simplified data center management at Choice Hotels. There is no need for on-site monitoring 24x7. Raritan’s secure gateway provides them with a single pane-of-glass console access. Choice Hotels is able to manage the entire data center from a single IP address.
The solutions implemented at Choice Hotels include iPDUs for environmental monitoring; humidity/temperature sensors; Power IQ energy management software with analytics capabilities; digital KVM switches to access servers; and Command Center Secure Gateway (News - Alert) to simplify access to equipment connected to all the KVMs, among others.
Raritan’s DCIM solution replaced the spreadsheets which were earlier used by Choice Hotels to track assets. It will provide new capabilities such as managing power and space capacity, as well as equipment additions, moves and change.
"For organizations running critical applications across multiple locations, Raritan's DCIM solutions provide operational managers with all the information they need to efficiently manage their data centers remotely, including secure access to every server, temperatures & humidity, energy usage, planning a specific server move, etc.,” said Sanjay Motwani, company sales director for India & SEA. “DCIM helps organizations save time, costs of travel & delivers higher revenues through reduced downtimes."
