Carousel Industries, in partnership with Cassidian Communications, has deployed next-generation 9-1-1 emergency medical dispatch solution for American Medical Response (AMR) in Massachusetts.Carousel, with the help of Cassidian Communications' support technicians, designed and engineered the IP-based 9-1-1 solution around the Sentinel Patriot (News - Alert) soft-switch system.
The IP call processing solution is designed for progressive call centers and delivers geo-diverse 9-1-1 and administrative call processing from a fully integrated IP soft-switch.Both companies now jointly provide the monitoring and management of the AMR solution remotely. Carousel is providing Tier 1 and 2 technical support, and Cassidian Communications is providing Tier 3 support.
AMR provides secondary PSAP services and next generation of 9-1-1 emergency medical response technology. It has more than 80 locations across the United States. The integration of Cassidian Communications' Sentinel Patriot solution in its Eastern Massachusetts operations, as well as its plans for implementations for future migrations of the software platform will help AMR maintain its leadership as a trustworthy and highly capable provider of secondary emergency medical dispatch."AMR is a leader in Medical Services and performs Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) for many PSAPS nationwide," said Dan Grossman, director, public safety solutions, Carousel Industries, in a statement. "As the requirements for emergency medical dispatch become stricter, AMR's upgrade to Cassidian Communications' Sentinel Patriot dispatch system gives the company an edge in securing contracts and providing the highest quality of secondary 9-1-1 service for EMD."
Compared to traditional analog-based 9-1-1 call systems, the next-generation 9-1-1 call processing systems like the Sentinel Patriot solution offer several benefits. They provide call center dispatchers with graphical location information about callers on cell phones, whether they are standing still or on the move, enabling quicker and more effective medical dispatch when emergencies arise.
"As the first deployment of our fully redundant, IP-based Sentinel Patriot solution in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we are elated to work with the Carousel team and the fine people of AMR," said Bob Freinberg, CEO for Cassidian Communications. "We consider it both an honor and privilege to support the AMR call-takers who help those in need every day, and we look forward to a long and mutually rewarding relationship in the years ahead."
Carousel leverages its network operations center (NOC (News - Alert)) to help AMR provide feet-on-the-street dispatch capabilities.
