Migration to NextGen 9-1-1 Simplified with Intrado's Great Migration Offer

By Sujata Garud, TMCnet Contributor

Intrado has a new offer, making it easier to migrate public safety answering points (PSAP) to NextGen 9-1-1.

Intrado Inc (News - Alert)., a major source of 9-1-1 solutions for public safety, has launched its Great Migration offer, which will help PSAPs safely transfer to NextGen 9-1-1.  Intrado A9-1-1 services are developed to help public safety agencies safely and easily make the move to NextGen (News - Alert) 9-1-1.

Intrado A9-1-1 services include advanced call routing, which PSAPs can use to dynamically distribute 9-1-1 calls to other emergency communications centers in the event of call overflow or extreme events.

Enhanced data services increase situational awareness by delivering supplemental call information such as images, video and address intelligence directly to the PSAP. The Intrado i3 Guarantee makes sure PSAPs get standards-based NextGen 9-1-1 solutions as the standards themselves evolve.

Intrado’s new offer is a cloud-based package. Agencies can get instant NextGen benefits and ongoing confidence that their system will be ready for the future. The Plaquemines Parish Government in Belle Chasse, La., is the first PSAP to buy this comprehensive package of public safety products and services.

“The need for public safety to keep pace with the way the world communicates today has started the move to a new generation of emergency communications technology,” said Joseph Hernandez, senior vice president, Intrado. “This move will not happen overnight; PSAPs will need to choose a starting point that makes sense for their operations and their community. The Great Migration offer puts agencies in control of the timing and delivery of NextGen 9-1-1 services while removing barriers such as the need for capital and concerns about evolving standards. With over 300-plus NextGen ESInet projects, statewide deployments in Washington and Vermont, nearly seven million NextGen 9-1-1 calls delivered and TXT29-1-1 deployments live in three states with multiple carriers, we feel very strongly that we can help PSAPs of any size and budget take this important step no matter how they choose to start.”

Upfront costs, evolving technology standards and general uncertainty about how to get started have delayed its broader adoption are the issues that always come across PSAPs. These difficulties are easily addressed with the Great Migration offer from Intrado.

The NextGen 9-1-1 is a fully managed package of Advanced 9-1-1 (A9-1-1) solutions that needs no capital outlay and comes with the Intrado i3 Guarantee to ensure ongoing compliance with evolving standards.

Intrado was recently in the news when Motorola (News - Alert) formed a strategic alliance with Intrado to provide next-gen integrated command and control capabilities. As part of the agreement, Motorola will resell Intrado products and services, including the Intrado VIPER and Power 911 products, across the world.
