TCS Completes NG9-1-1 Interoperability Tests with its LNG, ERSP, RCRF, and LIS

TeleCommunication Systems has announced the successful completion of Next-Generation 9-1-1 interoperability tests with its legacy network gateway, emergency services routing proxy, emergency call routing function, and location information server.

The company said that these tests were conducted at the second National Emergency Number Association Industry Collaboration Event, and with additional technical support provided by Texas A&M University. Recently, the event was held at the AT&T Center for Learning in Irving, Texas.

The event is part of a program, enabling vendors to test the interoperability of their products. Company officials said that these events bring together vendors in an open, supportive, and collaborative environment that "fosters a spirit of technical cooperation."

These NG9-1-1 Industry Collaboration Events aim to support all vendors in achieving fully interoperable systems, said company officials.

TCS' NG9-1-1 solution complies with the NENA i3 standard, accepting incoming emergency requests from both IP and PSTN based end users. In addition, it also delivers the voice calls, text, files, video and data to the correct public safety answering point. Moreover, it bridges the gap between NENA's i3 standard and current E9-1-1 systems, according to company officials.

Additionally, the TCS NG9-1-1 solution supports local deployment of licensed systems for a state, county, or local exchange carrier, and it can also be a hosted service using TCS' geo-redundant data centers.

Maryland-based TCS is a provider of secure mobile communication technology. The company's infrastructure forms the foundation for solutions in E9-1-1, text messaging, commercial location and deployable wireless communications. It provides wireless applications for navigation, hyper-local search, asset tracking, social applications and telematics.

"TCS is actively involved with the NENA i3 standards development as well as with the ongoing activity of NENA's Industry Collaborative Events which provide an opportunity to prove out these important NG9-1-1 standards," said Dan Allen, senior vice president of service bureau at TCS.

Recently, the company announced the availability of its 9-1-1 Femtocell (News - Alert) solution to support Wireless Carriers and Providers with the ability to ensure emergency services for their remote customers.
