Carphone Warehouse (News - Alert) Networks (CPWN), one of the leading independent service providers in the U.K., has deployed Juniper Networks MX960 Ethernet Services Routers in its nationwide Next-Generation Network. Leveraging Juniper MX-series, CPWN's NGN
will enable CPWN to rapidly introduce new revenue-generating services. The NGN project is based entirely on IP and Ethernet technologies.
"CPWN has delivered the first mass market end-to-end NGN in the U.K., with unmatched reliability and efficiency that gives our retail customers - CPW, AOL (News - Alert) and Opal - the ability to compete very effectively both on price and increasingly on service differentiation," said Neil McArthur, managing director of The Carphone Warehouse Networks. "Juniper Networks (News - Alert) MX-series Ethernet
Services Routers help enable us to provide this service differentiation by delivering consistently high levels of reliability and efficiency, with the scale and performance we need to meet growing customer demand."
The Carphone Warehouse had decided to invest in its own NGN in 2005, mainly to support its TalkTalk free broadband offer. The Juniper Networks MX960 ESR is a Carrier Ethernet platform delivering up to 960 Gbps of switching and routing
capacity and optimized for emerging Ethernet network architectures and services.
The MX960 integrates the reliability and service flexibility of JUNOS software with a hardware platform. MX960 is being used by 100 customers, including some of the world's leading telecommunications and web content service providers.
"Innovative service providers such as CPWN around the world are migrating to service enabling next-generation networks to improve efficiency, flexibility and service velocity and monetize their network investments," said Gert-Jan Schenk, senior vice president of operations, EMEA, for Juniper Networks. "We are very pleased CPWN has chosen to work with us to build its next-generation network and this deployment is yet another testament to the value Juniper Networks high-performance Ethernet Service Routers deliver to the world's leading service providers."
