Aaxeon Releases New R-232 Ethernet Extender

Aaxeon Technologies has just released a new R-232 serial to Ethernet extender that transfers data between devices that are as far apart as 0.75 miles over CAT-5 cabling. The device, called the SED-1010S, is easy to deploy within any company’s current infrastructure.
Most devices communicate via cable and USB connection. However, USB is limited to distances of 16 feet or less by standard, which makes the RS-232 standard a better choice for devices connected over longer distances.
With operating temperatures ranging from -22 F to 167 F, the SED-1010S can operate in virtually any kind of environment. For even greater flexibility, the RS-232 to CAT-5 Extender can be used without a power adapter and has built-in surge protection. If applications need more power than the host can provide, the SED-1010S has an optional power supply is available.
The SED-1010S’s features include full-duplex data communication that is compatible with all RS-232 protocols. Because the extender is a pure hardware solution, no software configuration is required. The device transfers data at rates up to 115.2 Kbps at maximum length. For transmissions of less than 330 feet, transfer speed can reach 921.6 Kbps.
While the SED-1010S will work anywhere, it is especially suitable for industrial environments. The device has dimensions of 1.67 x 0.89 x 4.17 inches and weighs 3 ounces.
All devices from Aaxeon come with a 45-day money-back guarantee and are backed by extensive live customer support. Devices are warrantied for five years and will be repaired or replaced if the device has manufacturing defects in either materials or workmanship.
Aaxeon has released a number of new devices so far in 2012 and has also expanded its presence in the European market. The company also recently released a new model in its Airolinx wireless line, the APN-300N, which includes the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi standard for a throughput of 300 Mbps.
