MtronPTI, a company specializing in custom frequency control and filter products, has introduced the XO5x84-1588-R series OCXO, or oven controlled oscillator. MtronPTI products are used widely in instrumentation, data and wireless communication applications.
This new product is available for applications including IEEE (News - Alert)-1588v2 ToP (Timing over Packet) client, Telecordia GR-1244/GR-253 SONET/SDH Stratum 3E system synchronizer timing modules, and ITU-T G.8263 packet slave clock timing cards, officials explained.

The oscillator solution has been especially designed and developed to support Internet Communications Technology (ICT) market applications that need packet switch timing in accordance with IEEE-1588 or ITU-T G.8263 standards.
With the advent and gaining popularity of 4G / LTE (News - Alert) smart phone, tablets and Internet activity, an increase in wireless data bandwidth has become imperative. The ICT industry is trying to match this demand by changing over from mixed voice and data delivered over in-efficient methods to a more optimized merged, data only system that leverages Carrier Ethernet with synchronized packet timing.
According to officials, the MtronPTI’s XO5x84-1588-R Series OCXO has been designed and certified to support IEEE 1588v2 Stratum 3E of GR-1244-Core, GR-253-Core and ITU-T G.812 Type III Clock packet-based requirements.

In July 2012, MtronPTI introduced the XO5085 series 100MHz low phase noise OCXO for instrumentation, point-to-point or point-to-multipoint microwave, and radar applications.
