Verizon (News - Alert) has said that it has received the top Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert) awards for its leadership and innovation in developing and delivering Carrier Ethernet business services.
“To win the Carrier Ethernet Global Service Provider of the Year award for the fourth year in a row -- on top of our other global accolades -- is a tremendous achievement and a testament to our continued innovation in the Ethernet space,” said Shawn Hakl, vice president for products and solutions at Verizon.
Additionally, the company received two Carrier Ethernet Business Application Awards for Asia-Pacific, the Best Marketing award for the Americas and the North America Regional Service Provider award.
The 2012 MEF (News - Alert) Carrier Ethernet Awards recognize excellence and leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of Carrier Ethernet Services and are judged by independent panels consisting of senior industry analysts. Annually, these awards are presented in North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and the Caribbean and Latin American regions.
Company officials said that this year's awards featured an enhanced business applications category, which recognizes partnerships between service providers and their clients in the delivery of Ethernet business services.
Verizon’s submissions featuring Aicent -- mobile data services category -- and Juniper Networks (News - Alert) -- manufacturing category -- were the winners in the inaugural Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application Awards in Asia-Pacific.
Hakl said that this year, the company is also pleased to have been able to showcase its capabilities through its relationships with Aicent and Juniper Networks.
“Our work with both companies demonstrates the breadth and depth of our capabilities in the Ethernet space, and we are particularly delighted to have received MEF awards in recognition of this,” he said.
