FirstLight Fiber and Fibrenoire announced a collaboration agreement to provide seamless Ethernet connectivity between the US and Canada. The collaboration allows both the companies to extend their presence in new territories offering fiber-based services with increased scalability and performance. The jointly offered Ethernet services are compliant with MEF (News - Alert) 2.0, thus guaranteeing high-levels of reliability and scalability. Following the development, the customers of both the companies can avail highly scalable, economical and consistent Ethernet connectivity across borders, which was hitherto a complex process.
In a release, Patrick Coughlin, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing at FirstLight Fiber, said “Fibrenoire’s network complements the FirstLight network, extending our capabilities into new Canadian markets and allowing our customers to enjoy high quality services that don’t stop at the border. This arrangement further demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with high speed, reliable services where and when they need them.”
The development comes at a time when the demand for high speed bandwidth is increasing between both the countries. Organizations having operations in both the countries are on the look-out for connectivity solutions that do not have any impact due to cross border connectivity requirements. The collaboration between both the companies address this very need offering a robust and high-speed Ethernet connectivity service for various industries such as online gaming, financial services and media amongst others.
Speaking of the collaboration with FirstLight Fiber, Benjamin Desmarais, president and CEO at Fibrenoire, said “Historically, businesses found it difficult to find connectivity across the border between the United States and Canada. In our pursuit to increase our capabilities into the US, syncing up with an independent carrier operating in Northern New England, like FirstLight, was a natural fit. Our companies are similar in many ways and our relationship with FirstLight allows us to leverage our combined strengths to provide our MEF 2.0 compliant Carrier Ethernet services to businesses requiring connectivity between the two countries.”
FirstLight Fiber is engaged in providing Internet, fiber optic data, voice and colocation services over its own fiber optic network spanning more than 190,000 fiber miles in the US. The company’s telecommunications product suite includes advanced solutions such as Metro Ethernet, SIP trunks, virtual PBX (News - Alert) and Data Center Colocation in addition to conventional TDM solutions.
Fibrenoire is a fiber optic service provider providing exclusive solutions to the enterprise customers in Ontario and Quebec. The company is the leading fiber optic network providing exclusive connectivity services only to the business customers in Quebec and is also the top most Metro Ethernet Carrier in Eastern Canada.
