Patton Partners with JTS in a Bid to Grab More of Japan's Network Equipment Market

Patton (News - Alert) Electronics has made several major moves in the global business and carrier-class network access, connectivity, VoIP and triple-play equipment market in recent years, and now the Maryland company is extending its reach in the Pacific Rim. The company today announced a strategic partnership making JTS Corporation a Master Distributor for the Patton catalog in the Japanese market.

Japan has the world's second largest economy and a thriving VoIP and triple-play market.

"This market is too big to miss for Patton Electronics,” said Tom Kojima, president and CEO of JTS Corporation. “Leveraging the JTS regional sales network and local support facilities, we can compete together against regional manufacturers and win. I believe Patton will make double business development in Japan for 2009."

As TMCnet reported late last year, Patton  opened a regional sales office in Milan, Italy in an effort to leverage the new locations for operations and business development throughout Southern Europe.

The Milan office supplies Patton’s full catalog of over 1,000 data, voice, VoIP and triple-play networking products to carriers, enterprises, VARs and integrators throughout the region.

As part of the JTS deal, the company will launch a Japanese online storefront for Patton products at www.patton.jp. As Master Distributor, JTS is expected to enhance the entire business experience for Patton channel partners and customers by providing local sales, marketing, and technical support in the Japanese language.

"We are deeply committed to mutual growth and success,” said Sean Gerrity, Patton's Sales Director for North America and Japan. “2008 was actually very strong for both Patton and JTS. Yet we have barely scratched the surface of the Japanese market potential. We expect 100% revenue growth this year."

While the deal is certain to extend Patton’s reach in the region, it is by no means the company’s first foray into the area. Current Patton products available in Japan include short-range modems, customer-premise DSL modems and Ethernet Extenders.

"Patton is committed to strong channel-partner relationships," said Gerrity. "It's the key element in our worldwide sales initiatives. To grow those relationships in Japan, we are extremely fortunate to partner with such an experienced and established company as JTS."

The deal will now allow Patton to maintain local inventory with local pricing, as well as provide the Japanese market with instant order fulfillment and immediate delivery capabilities.

Plans for growth include marketing Patton's award-winning SmartNode VoIP gateways and ForeFront multi-service access equipment.

Later this quarter, JTS will host a major sales training event for existing and prospective Patton partners in Japan. Recently, Patton acquired the OnSite Systems (News - Alert) S10 microMSPP SONET/SDH product line, especially designed for the Asian market.

Earlier this year, in a move designed to extend Patton Electronics corporate strategy for ongoing growth and profitability, the company has introduced Robert R. Patton as its new Chief Executive Officer.
