The Ethernet Switch market has continued to rebound, registering a 20 percent sequential growth during the second quarter of this year, according to a report from market research firm Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group.
The study, titled “Ethernet Switch Quarterly Report,” says the growth was driven primarily by the North America market.
“Most vendors experienced robust growth in North America during the quarter,” said Alan Weckel, director of Ethernet Switch Market Research at Dell’Oro Group.
Despite significant growth over the past few years from emerging markets, such as Brazil, Russia, India and China, the Ethernet Switch market is still dominated by North America.
“That accounts for almost 40 percent of port shipments and over half of the total market revenue,” said Weckel.
According to the study, the 10 Gigabit Ethernet experienced the most robust growth during the quarter, with blade switches designed for the blade server market helping drive this segment. Vendors such as Cisco (News - Alert), Blade, Dell and HP all have Ethernet Switch offerings in this segment.
The complete, in-depth study covers the market with tables on manufacturers’ revenue, average selling prices, and port shipments (by speed Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet) for Layers 2-3 (both managed and unmanaged) and Layers 4-7.
