TMC Awards Patton's SmartNode Session Border Controller
A session border controller or, "SBC," is network equipment that is required for controlling the real-time session traffic at the signaling, call-control and packet layers between networks and is critical for the deployment of VoIP networks and acts as a network address translator "NAT" for the service provider.

), interop issues and security holes are problem areas in SIP trunking and SmartNode addresses both these issues.
Patton's ESBR any-to-any SIP and H.323 protocol mediation offers secure connectivity between IP-PBX and Internet Telephony (News

In addition, the solution includes an advanced IP router, QOS, VoIP-VPN security, least cost call routing and IP link redundancy - to reduce the overall equipment cost.
