etherFAX, a provider of Fax over IP (FoIP) solutions, announced the launch of five new points of presence (POP) throughout Europe and Asia. This expansion comes on the heels of the company’s POP launch in Spain, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Guam.

“Even with the pervasiveness of the Internet, e-mail and other forms of electronic communications, fax continues to be a critical method of supporting an array of business transactions across many different industries,” said Paul Banco, CEO of etherFAX, in a statement. 

The new POPs in Europe and Asia allows the company to build out their Fax over IP infrastructure to keep pace with customer needs, Banco added.

Leveraging an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) model, etherFAX fax over IP extends existing fax server technology to the cloud. It eliminates the need for costly components of a fax server, fax board, and recurring telephony expenses.

etherFAX’s patent-pending fax over IP technology leverages the Internet to manage all business-critical fax communications. It operates through a vast array of virtual ports, making them available to securely send and receive high volumes of fax transmissions, company officials said.

In June etherFAX announced the availability of its Web services Software Development Kit (SDK) designed for application developers looking to extended fax services to their software applications without the hassle of dealing with telephony hardware and/or infrastructure.

Recently etherFAX also announced it has been selected by Flood & Peterson, a leading insurance broker in Rocky Mountain region. The insurance firm, with three offices located throughout Colorado, was using RightFax Fax over IP server to centralize all incoming and outgoing faxes between offices and its customers.
