Dialogic Unveils New Fax over IP Solution with Support for IPv6

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Dialogic (News - Alert), a provider of communications technologies, announced the release of the new Dialogic Brooktrout (News - Alert) SR140 Fax Software, the new Fax over IP (FoIP) software that supports the latest version of Internet Protocol (version 6), also known as IPv6.

By offering support to IPv6 in addition to the predominant IPv4, the Fax over IP solution Release 6.4 enables hosted service providers and enterprises to make the transition to IPv6 easier.

The new Brooktrout SR140 release enables hosted service providers and enterprises to deliver fax over IP, as well as deploy fax services and fax server applications, making document management, business process automation and regulatory compliance easier than ever.

The new version also includes G.711 V.34 fax protocol support, which more than doubles the speed of fax transmission when compared to V.17, according to company officials. Although in most cases the T.38 protocol is considered the most reliable protocol for fax over IP, there are times when it is not supported, or it is only supported using V.17 speeds.

By offering support for G.711 V.34, Dialogic helps customers take advantage of the fastest transport available under the given circumstances -- ultimately reducing costs by speeding up the fax transmission process.

“As the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 gains momentum, we have worked with Dialogic to ensure that OpenText RightFax continues to meet the needs of our customers, especially as it pertains to supporting industry standard technologies such as IPv6,” said Matthew Brine, vice president of Fax and Document Distribution, OpenText, in a statement.

“RightFax customers, including US government organizations, leading financial institutions and prominent healthcare providers, need fax via IPv6 networks and Dialogic has delivered a key component with its Brooktrout SR140 fax integration,” Brine added.

Franz-Josef Eberle, vice president and general manager, value added services and cloud enabling group at Dialogic , says the latest solution is designed to meet the emerging need for IPv6 support within the Fax over IP market. “We look forward to continually evolving our solutions to provide advanced FoIP offerings to the industry.”

Dialogic was the platinum sponsor of the recently held ITEXPO West 2011 conference and trade show held in Austin, Texas. At the event, the company showcased how customers can build their network, enterprise and cloud-based solutions on Dialogic media gateways, software and signaling products.
