Illustrating the issues associated with VoIP and telecom expense management is one thing, but throw fax into the mix and you’ve got a whole lot to explain to your customer who’s having issues with his or her voice and document transmission technology. Fortunately, the providers of smart fax technology over at Commetrex (News - Alert) recognize that this hurdle needs to be jumped and have concocted a few helpful videos that detail the latest issues with fax technology and how its solutions can help.
The latest video poses a customer and provider discussing what is to be done to address the customer’s problems concerning his “outbound faxes over SIP trunking” which are having problems. “We still have a large number of POTS lines in place for our faxes,” he says. “At $40 each a month, that’s a problem. Can you help us improve fax reliability over IP carrier networks?”
After mentioning that his problem is a common one, the provider notes that Commetrex has a new version of its BladeWare product, including a patent-pending technology called Smart FoIP which “significantly improves the success rate of outbound faxes and all G711-based FoIP calls.”
“Commetrex also offers Smart FoIP in an ATA through its sister company, NetGen Communications. It will give your legacy fax terminals the same ability, and let you drop those expensive POTS lines in your mode offices too,” says the provider.
Ultimately, BladeWare with Smart FoIP can help businesses improve their fax reliability over IP carrier networks and eliminate the need for POTS lines for faxing.
In a recent retrospective look on the progress Commetrex has made in the FoIP arena during 2011, Mike Coffee, CEO of the company noted, “Why does real-time FoIP require special treatment compared with voice? The key reason: unforgiving non-humans at the endpoints implementing a computer-computer protocol with relatively tight timing requirements. Enterprise networks can handle those timing requirements, but international tandem network connections too often do not.” Click on the link to read about all the challenges yet to come in the FoIP world.
