The trucking industry is looking at an anticipated boom over the next ten years. According to the American Trucking Association, an expected 100,000 increase in the workforce is on the table, but like every other industry, it’s not without its challenges and for the workers on the road, a big challenge is communication and staying in touch.
Because we’re in the tech era, mobile communications have made it easier for the mobile workforce to keep up with their home bases, and for the trucking industry it’s no different. In fact, 57 percent more of truckers use their mobile phones for business use daily compared to last year.
Of course, communication on-the-go is much more complex than voice these days. Documents, messages, e-mails, and so on are all included in the staying in touch requirement of a worker on the road, and electronic fax takes advantage of traditional fax technology and brings it to the mobile handset.
A mobile fax solution allows truckers to manage folders in the cloud for storing documents, use search to find a specific document or group of documents, as well as tag (News - Alert) receipts, invoices and load slips with keywords to make them easier to group or find later, all essential tools for the mobile employee.
The benefit of using electronic fax, or a fax over IP solution (FoIP) over a traditional fax machine is the low cost. Instead of spending money on fax machines, ink or fax paper, a user can save on those costs and invest in their IP network.
Using newer technologies in fax are a great benefit to mobile workers like truck drivers, as it provides direct inbound delivery of faxes to e-mail right on a smartphone or tablet device.
