BetterCloud, a contributor to Google (News - Alert) Apps that develops applications that better the service, just released a new product that will enhance the security and management capabilities of Google Apps for people who administrate the system.
The application, known as DomainWatch, joined the Google Apps Marketplace and finally gives administrators of IT staffs to have more control over what happens in deployments of Google Docs, Google Sites, and Google Calendars.
Of course, Google has already integrated security measures and monitoring utilities for Google Apps, but many people would prefer to take advantage of the ability to organize things further. DomainWatch takes care of this, empowering Google Apps administrators with quota management within an organization, allowing them to monitor the assets that end users share with each other and control the way that these assets behave. DomainWatch also allows people to analyze statistical data about usage. In the end, the system will allow Google Apps administrators protect their own intellectual property.
David Politis, CEO of BetterCloud, says, “IT desperately needs tools that allow it to more proactively manage end users and secure domains. Given our background and experience with Google Apps and cloud services, we think we're uniquely capable of supporting IT in this area. DomainWatch is the first of many products we intend to offer that are built on Google App Engine and extend and enhance the value of the Google platform.”
DomainWatch isn't a new product, although its integration into Google Apps happened just today. In fact, the product has been out there since 2011, and literally hundreds of businesses use it.
Just like everything else that BetterCloud begets, DomainWatch has utmost flexibility, whether you're running a business with ten employees or a mega corporation that employs 50 thousand people. If you are interested in using DomainWatch, BetterCloud offers the product for a trial period of seven days, after which you pay only $8 per user every year.
