Ever since Google (News - Alert) App Engine was launched, Web application (app) developers have been cashing in on its fully-integrated development environment and unique features to create scalable apps as well as management platforms.
Recently, MokiMobility announced that its MokiManage is the first mobile device and application management platform that was built on Google App Engine.
With the help of Google App Engine, MokiMobility was able to develop the cutting-edge, cloud-based MokiManage platform for managing iPads, Android (News - Alert) tablets and other mobile devices used as purpose-built devices, at a fraction of the cost of developing it in-house.
According to MokiMobility, its MokiManage is a robust management platform that enables the remote management of application settings, application distribution and device management. It powers solutions ranging from iPad and Android kiosks, retail point-of-sale systems, tablet-based advertisement and loyalty apps retail, hospitality and education.
With the help of MokiManage platform, independent software vendors (ISVs) and solution providers are able to build compelling solutions that include cloud-based mobile application and device management for the iPad and Android tablets.
In addition, the MokiManage platform allows developers to have greater control over the complete experience, thereby allowing them to create new customer experiences that are more engaging.
Elucidating how MokiMobility customers experience faster deployment and greater scalability due to Google App Engine, Tom Karren, co-founder and CEO of MokiMobility, said in a statement, "iOS and Android are built for the Cloud, it only makes sense that you manage them from the Cloud, too. Google App Engine provides us with the power and flexibility to focus on feature development, not server management. As a result, we can provide our customers with an intuitive and scalable management platform."
Leveraging Google App Engine’s highly scalable, easy-to-use platform to build the service, MokiMobility used the Google App Engine as the back-end and HTML and JavaScript for the client-side application.
In addition, MokiMobility also utilized key Google App Engine features, such as the High-Replication Datastore and the Task Queue API, to integrate the service’s data and for seamless functioning.
Unlike traditional Mobile Application Management platforms that simply get applications on a device without updating or managing them, MokiMobility’s MokiManage not only helps in creating the apps but also manages the apps on devices and also has more control over the entire device, including: Wi-Fi settings, e-mail, passcode requirements, and more.
In addition, the MokiManage facilitates for: the central management of application settings and remote management of app settings during run-time.
