With thousands of apps inundating the Android (News - Alert) app marketplace, it could be really frustrating and time-consuming to find the ones that suit you. And even after hours of searching, there's no real guarantee that you'll land something you really like.
Hooked Media Group, which reportedly entertains millions of people daily through its suite of online and mobile gaming services, has debuted a new predictive system that hooks up to its game discovery engine, providing today's Instant users with ready-made recommendations that promise to engage players primarily with the kind of the games they prefer.
"Our recommendation system predicts whether the user is going to like a particular gaming app or not," said Prita Uppal, CEO at Hooked Media.
Although game ratings on Google (News - Alert) Play do give users an idea of how popular the game is, they can never be too sure whether a particular game will cater to their personal tastes. However, with Hooked Media's touch of personalization, the problem of app discovery could well become a thing of the past.
Hooked Media Group's advanced system is also expected to use a variety of data provided by users to curate certain facts about them. This way, users can compare their playing statistics with that of other players and find how they rank with reference to them. By doing this, it gently coaxes users into searching for more apps, playing more games, making it easier and easier for the predictive system to quickly locate app that sync with a user's taste.
As users continue to purchase and rate apps, these actions are picked up by the system and factored into future recommendations, and with time, behavior patterns are established, preferences identified and Hooked Media's mission of simplifying the search and discovery for users is greatly enhanced.
Although there are many app recommendation services in the market, Uppal noted that the Hooked app was unrivalled as no other service provided the personalization that needs to go into the process of searching, identifying and matching user requirements – this was exactly was what Hooked Media was doing.
It also allows Web publishers to embed a social game player to improve both the user experience and website statistics while rewarding both publishers and developers and helping them distribute, enhance and monetize their games on the Web, mobile devices and tablets.
Hooked Media Group announced that its Hooked app, a game discovery engine on the Google Play Marketplace, has reached over one million downloads in a one-week period. In a one-week period, the app generated 22+ million recommendations, over nine million recommendations to Google Play, five million game installations and one million hours of gameplay.
