Today the term big data has come into use recently to refer to the increasing amount of information that organizations are storing, processing and analyzing. To effectively use the vast amounts of data, ExtraHop Networks (News - Alert), a provider of network-based application performance management (APM) solutions, has launched its SAP Sybase IQ Module, designed to give IT organizations operational intelligence into big data analytics and data warehousing environments.
The ExtraHop Sybase (News - Alert) IQ module enables IT professionals to keep an eye on the performance of all Sybase IQ queries in real-time without profilers or other host-based instrumentation, which are costly and add significant performance overhead to systems. In addition, it can help IT professionals to empower DBAs, correlate data-warehouse performance, monitor iSCSI transactions, measure performance improvements and track emerging performance issues.
Sybase IQ was recognized by Gartner as a Leader in the 2012 Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse Database Management Systems. In recent research, IDC says that 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created every day, and upward of 90 percent of the world’s data has been created in just the last two years.
"The NPD Group (News - Alert), a global information and advisory-services company, chose ExtraHop to monitor our data warehouse because of the visibility it provides, not just into our data warehouse but also the supporting infrastructure,” says Babu Kudaravalli, executive director of IT Operations at the NPD Group. “Given the scale of our big data deployment, traditional monitoring approaches would not be feasible. ExtraHop provides an elegant solution that requires no agents or overhead."
Business-intelligence and data-warehousing applications are the key to unlocking the potential of big data.
Jesse Rothstein (News - Alert), ExtraHop CEO, said in a statement, “With a network-based deployment that requires no agents, the ExtraHop Sybase IQ Module offers unprecedented visibility into Sybase IQ transactions, delivering real-time transaction analysis at sustained 10Gbps speeds. Our customers that run Sybase IQ have been thrilled with the real-time visibility that this new offering provides, and we’re happy to see how quickly it has had a positive impact for their IT organizations.”
