Computer Lab International (CLI), a provider of thin client customization, has extended its support for the recently launched and updated version of the enhanced Telesecure Computing solution from Officescape (News - Alert). The updated security solution and management platform integrates the Smart Card and thin client technology to provide teleworkers with a secure computing environment. Enterprises leveraging the platform can effectively address identity management issues which plague user support extended by the organization outside the protected corporate firewalls.
Officescape's updated solution has been designed to provide extended security to the conventional secure VPN connection, as it enables customers to encrypt passwords before creating a VPN connection.
The solution incorporates a two-factor authentication (NIST SP 800-46) system, to enable identity management and provide access control. The system requires physical (Smart Card) authentication, as well as a logical (password or biometric) authentication before enabling server access so the security threat of "virtual fishing" for login information is eliminated.
Officescape's Smart Card has been designed to include an encrypted certificate, secure 3DES key and wrong password counter file eliminating the risk of unauthorized login if the card gets stolen or is lost. Furthermore, since the TelOffice Box thin client does not feature a hard drive, the risk of remote data storage is eliminated. The thin client enables cloud computing to provide access to applications and data which are housed on the corporate server.
In a release, Felix Tan, President of Officescape said, "Officescape looks forward to continuing to work with CLI as we offer our Telesecure Computing solution. As one of our long-term hardware partners, CLI consistently provides equipment that meets our needs and those of our clients."
Officescape's TelOffice Box solution will be provided support on CLI's Windows Embedded Standard operating system so customer needs can be effectively addressed. While the security benefits provide by Officescape's updated Telesecure Computing solution is extensive, the solution enables easy login for remote workers.
Jason Marshall, Technical Director at CLI said, "The adoption rate of Desktop Virtualization (VDI) is increasing, with many use cases being for telecommuters and users in remote offices. We are delighted to provide Officescape with a solid product and OS platform to develop their TelOffice Box solution."
Officescape coordinates with its clients during the deployment phase to customize startup files and the login process, which direct the launch of software programs to house them into the Smart Cards. Once this is accomplished, further customization of the Smart Cards can be carried out by the authorized administrator.
