UnboundID (News - Alert), which develops cloud identity management software, has released Version 3.2 of its identity management platform.
UnboundID’s identity management platform, which combines real-time identity data delivery capabilities with new security and encryption controls, is designed for companies supporting consumer-facing services that are dependent on personally identifiable information.
The new UnboundID solution is specifically designed to deliver and protect sensitive customer data in real-time, thus eliminating poor performance as the excuse for not encrypting sensitive customer data, company officials said.
The new UnboundID also features a set of tools for auditing the configuration of the environment that enables administrators to inspect and verify system configuration compliance and identify areas requiring additional security controls.
Additionally version 3.2 features a secure, real-time Identity Data Store that provides real-time protection for sensitive customer data while at-rest, in-motion or in-use. The new security and privacy controls deliver support for signed and encrypted imports and exports.
UnboundID says many companies leave customer data unencrypted because of the fear of a loss in revenue due to poor application performance brought on by data encryption and its additional overhead.
“While ensuring the performance of identity-dependent applications is essential, so is the protection of customer data,” said Andy Spillane, chief product officer of UnboundID, in a statement. “Our goal in designing these new features was to provide both so that our clients can better serve their customers.”
The UnboundID Suite includes the UnboundID Directory Server, the UnboundID Directory Proxy Server, the UnboundID Synchronization Server, the UnboundID Server SDK, and the UnboundID LDAP SDK for Java.
Back in May, TMCnet reported that UnboundID was named a 2011 "Cool Vendor in Identity and Access Management" by Gartner.
