West IP Communications (News - Alert), a provider of MPLS networks, hosted voice, centralized security, hosted contact centers and unified messaging, recently unveiled MediaCloud, a hybrid environment for deploying Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync throughout enterprises. MediaCloud keeps Lync infrastructure and applications in the enterprise, managed by IT staff, but puts the media, edge and federation pieces into West’s data centers.
From MPLS networking to innovative voice services, West IP Communications provides everything a company needs to transform its communications. It offers products and services for voice serices, contact center solutions, unified messaging, collaboration, managed security, network services and management tools.
MediaCloud is a completely new approach for the deployment of enterprise-wide Microsoft Lync environments, blending the traditional options of on-premise deployment versus hosted deployment. It empowers an enterprise Lync deployment by providing the speed, performance, reliability and scalability of a cloud based solution while simultaneously delivering the command, control and integration capabilities demanded by today’s enterprise IT organizations.
“Deploying an enterprise wide unified communications platform remains a top priority for large-scale enterprises, and Lync is the platform of choice for many," said Jeff Wellemeyer (News - Alert), executive vice president and CTO at West IP Communications.
Its voice services offered allow employees to work effectively and productively, providing the tools for effective communication in and out of the office. VoiceMaxx delivers fully managed voice services and on-demand applications without an on-site PBX (News - Alert), Mobile Connect enables mobile phones to have all of the outbound calling features as the desk phone, MaxxConnect IP Trunking provide the hosted voice services without costly new infrastructure or equipment upgrades and Virtual Office keeps employees connected.
“Moving Lync out of the pilot phase and into full-scale production is a huge challenge, requiring an enterprise IT group to deploy and manage complex application, network, PSTN, and federation infrastructures and services," Wellemeyer. "For many enterprises, this is a challenge beyond the capabilities and resources of their IT groups."
The product contains three key services elements:
· EdgeCloud: Takes direct global Internet connectivity for Lync enterprise clusters into a network designed for real-time inter-carrier communications, enhancing security and end users' quality experience.
· MediationCloud: Extends RTAudio use to the service provider network so it's delivered without transcoding, increasing network efficiency and reducing voice latency.
· FederationCloud: Provides public federation services associated with the enterprise Lync platform in a secure, QoS-enabled environment with peering to global Internet providers and many MPLS network service platforms, enabling connectivity to organizations, applications and services both within and external to the MediaCloud.
