Cost is a critical component in the operation of state and local government agencies. Every penny comes from taxpayers and must be accounted for. When it comes to communications, these agencies often struggle with costs while trying to keep up with technology.

According to this Telecom Reseller (News - Alert) piece, these agencies are also finding that IP communications can help them in their efforts to control costs while keeping current with technology. What makes it difficult for agencies to move to a common communications platform is the fact that many are running under a different PBX (News - Alert) in different locations.

As communities merge and the number of people on those PBXs increase, a fix is required to get both elements in line with each other. The fix must include bringing a cost-effective communications system into the mix that is not only reliable but also easy to use. IP communications fit that definition.?

As communities grow, the telephone, Internet, mobile and fax platforms become jumbled as the PBX systems don't always integrate well. But IP communications platforms bring a unified communications environment to communities struggling with compatibility issues. Not only are the unified IP communications systems bringing better connectivity; they're bringing it at a reduced cost.

The IP communications infrastructure brings workflows into a community-wide performance upgrade that can include better accessibility as well as transparency that so many public agencies are required to adhere to.

ANDTEK GmbH is a communications company that brings smooth communications to agencies that are looking to cut costs while also enjoying the benefits of IP communications. ANDTEK has voice recording, emergency notification, computer telephony, directory integration, team collaboration and attendant console solutions that assist in bringing a unified solution to any community. ?

ANDTEK has experience in dealing with government agencies whose district offices need the integration and smooth communication processes that an IP communications solution can bring. The company brought a solution to a German municipality recently and was able to easily understand the requirements unique to government processes.

The company's “attendant console” solution gave the municipality the tools to integrate its communications options and provided the officials in the government the ability to connect their PCs through the IP phones, which could then control many of their services through one centralized interface.

Through this interface, the municipality workers could not only operate their programs and access the various phone number directories, they could make calls, emails, fax documents and do any other number of tasks available in an IP communications system. By integrating these multiple channels, the agency was able to improve efficiency and cut costs, greatly impacting the bottom line.
