Cloud Hosted IP-PBX Now Just an App Away with CommPortal

What started as a marketing slogan -- “there's an app for that”-- is rapidly becoming an expression of reality as we know it. For more and more parts of a mobile device's life, and for its user's life as well, there are apps directly related to those parts. With CommPortal, a whole new and rather unexpected field has just joined the “app for that” family: cloud hosted IP-PBX (News - Alert).

There are several parts to the overall CommPortal whole, but one of the biggest for mobile users is CommPortal Assistant. It's also available as a toolbar application for Windows PCs and offers up a wide array of useful features, like the ability to get notified of incoming calls and voicemails, as well as the ability to search their CommPortal contact list. The CommPortal Assistant app can also perform synchronization tasks with Outlook contact lists, start click-to-dial outgoing calls, work with key call services and even change user status, much like an instant messenger client would.

There are plenty more options from there in terms of apps available. One app, Call Me Buttons, allows its users to include button graphics into e-mail signatures, websites and instant messages that allow their recipients to just click the button and make a phone call to the target in question. This allows users to take advantage of advertising methods by making the call-to-action function easier, reducing the process down to just one click instead of getting a phone and dialing a number. There's also QuickDial Accelerator that basically keeps a running list of the various phone numbers a user might encounter while browsing, and then later on, call that number directly from the computer.

Reducing the amount of steps required between the initial contact of an advertising method like e-mail or website advertising allows for a better connection between the viewer and the medium itself. It takes advantage of the front-of-mind principle, allowing users to get an interest in a product then be able to quickly follow up on that interest with information. This increases the likelihood of making positive contacts, including future sales. For the users, meanwhile, it means increased convenience and a better ability to access the information they want to get at the time.

The variety of apps offered up through CommPortal will do an excellent job of improving contact and making it easier, and more convenient, to make contact. This has significant benefits on both sides of the contact equation, and is likely to prove valuable for its users on at least one point.
