Level 3 Communications (News - Alert), Inc., a provider of enterprise, government, and carrier communications services, recently announced that it has signed an agreement with Tata Consultancy Services (News - Alert) Ltd. (TCS), a multinational IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, to provide its Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL) and dedicated Internet access (DIA) services for Tata’s recently opened office in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Officials from TCS said that the services will provide the company with a reliable and secure communication infrastructure, connecting its Rio office to its headquarters in Sao Paulo. 

The Level 3 Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) service is used for building global point-to-point and point-to-multi-point Ethernet transport networks. The solution serves as a secure, flexible, reliable private line alternative. It features flexible bandwidth (Committed Data Rate) ranging from 1 Mbps to 2 Gbps  and a standard inline Ethernet network interface device at all customer locations, and end-to-end connectivity fault management and remote testing.

"Level 3's Ethernet Virtual Private Line service enables more efficient and reliable communications and collaboration among users located in various offices over a single, network platform," said Marcos Malfatti, senior vice president of sales for Level 3 in Brazil. The DIA services from Level 3 look to provide Tata with fast, dedicated and reliable global access for its employees and business applications.
