IP Media Server: MediaPlatform Unveils Solutions Practice for Adobe Flash Platform

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

MediaPlatform, a provider of Web casting software and media management platform, announced the launch of Solutions Practice for the Adobe Flash Platform.

The new solution, according to company officials, helps enterprises utilize the full potential of the Adobe Flash Platform for online video.

Adobe Flash Media Server 4 enables large-scale rich media Web casting while limiting the need to update network infrastructures. MediaPlatform's new practice helps enterprises realize their media strategy and then make it come to life, company officials said.

MediaPlatform's dynamic and highly extensible end-to-end framework enables these enterprises to benefit from online video that reaches virtually all of the enterprise audience without straining network resources.

“Video and other rich media communications are increasingly becoming the tools of choice for enterprise marketers, HR professionals and many other groups that need to communicate to their worldwide audiences,” said Jim McGovern, chief executive officer, MediaPlatform, in a statement.

Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 software enables enterprises to achieve maximum reach with minimum network load through peer-assisted delivery of content, application-level multicast, and IP multicast streaming, McGovern said.

In association with Adobe, MediaPlatform works on extensive enterprise-level testing on the server, in part developing the industry's first player supporting the multicast fusion capability.

“We're looking forward to collaborating with MediaPlatform and utilizing their expertise and experience in the enterprise video space,” said Kevin Towes senior product manager for Adobe Flash Media Server, in a statement.

“Adobe Flash Media Enterprise Server 4 builds on the capabilities of the Flash Platform -- and the leading solution for delivering video on the Web -- opening up new opportunities for enterprises to deploy large-scale streaming video communication and collaboration.”

With the help of its new Solutions Practice for the Adobe Flash Platform, MediaPlatform will help enterprises assess their near and long-term goals for rich media, and then develop an implementation plan that fits their specific media strategy.

MediaPlatform will also train the IT staff and then help the organization transition from conventional enterprise video to multicast fusion on the Adobe Flash Platform, company officials said.

The MediaPlatform Framework component of the practice helps enterprises manage media streams from the point of origination through the end viewer. It helps them monitor server performance and utilization, integrating with infrastructure management consoles.

The framework also enables enterprises to manage Flash Media Live Encoder (FMLEs) -- creating multiple streams for different end uses, including mobile devices and bandwidth constrained locations.

The solution also manages streams and multicasting both in the cloud and on-premise. It enables Web services back-end for integration with LDAP and enterprise applications. Additionally, MediaPlatform Framework also provides platform-agnostic Java architecture.

Additionally, MediaPlatform's custom media player, created using the Open Source (News - Alert) Media Framework (OSMF), enables multicast fusion to reach the desktop with minimal impact on the network, company officials said.

MediaPlatform also announced that it is one of the sponsors of the Business Video Expo, taking place February 2-4, 2011 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The expo, collocated with ITEXPO, is conducted by TMC, in partnership with Interactive Media Strategies (News - Alert).
