REVE Systems Shares Plans for U.S. Expansion

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Today’s world has become increasingly mobile, whether in the U.S., or on the other side of the world. For REVE Systems, mobile solutions for service providers and carriers have proven successful in the Middle East and Asia, as consumers and professionals seek to leverage mobile VoIP through their devices.

While U.S.-based carriers may be a little slower on the uptake, that does appear to be changing. To discuss this opportunity, Craig Span, REVE Systems’ regional head of sales in North America, talked with TMC’s (News - Alert) Stefanie Mosca in the video interview below.

REVE offers solutions that start at the softswitch level and go all the way to the end user interface. The company’s mobile dialer is their flagship product, and one they hope to introduce into expanded geographic territories.

Span told TMC, “We have a strong foothold in the Middle East and Asia and looking to take that success and some of the things we have learned and move it to a different market. We’ve done our market research to figure out what products are a better fit here. Our technology is very flexible, allowing us to get into developing markets and developed markets. We’re very focused on extending bandwidth optimization and other things we can do to enhance the user experience.”

REVE Systems’ mobile dialer can be installed on any handset and allows users to use VoIP as the backend solution. This not only reduces the cost of communications, it also provides the ability to serve a different part of the population. The company is hoping to make their VoIP dialer part of a Tier 2 solution. According to Span, it’s now a necessity to get into mobile VoIP for operators and they want to offer them solutions that allow for this expansion.

Things were a lot different however just a few years back. There was a resistance to mobile VoIP among carriers, as many of them believed it was a cannibalization. Now, Span said, they see the technology as an enhancement and a focus on both mobile technology and good adoption is now happening among providers.

When asked if REVE Systems will move to the enterprise level, Span noted that their solution starts at the lowest level, offering entry level products. These solutions, however, can scale to the enterprise level with customized solutions that can meet anyone’s needs. And, flexibility ensures they stand apart. Geographically there is no limit and there is no limit within the market space.

As for the future, REVE Systems is looking to roaming and offloading for higher level carriers that offer GSM service, providing their customers with a mobile Web solution. Their goal is to connect with operators more receptive to that technology among the carriers. While a lot will be built on mobile VoIP, enhancements will be offered to attract other players.
