Interxion (News - Alert), a European provider of carrier-neutral data centers and managed services, is launching a new cloud test lab based on Eucalyptus Systems – a provider of an on-premise cloud computing platform for Web 2.0 businesses, enterprises, and government organizations. This test lab, located at Interxion’s Frankfurt data center campus, is developed for enterprises and systems integrators looking to deploy private and hybrid cloud environments.
The connectivity for the lab is provided by Atrato IP Networks, a provider of IP transit, carrier services, remote peering, and managed services. Its IP Transit service provides high performance and cost-effective connectivity to the global Internet routing table for both IPv4 and IPv6, and was created to meet the demands of high bandwidth customers, such as Internet service providers (ISPs), Telcos, and content providers.
Lab users will be able to create Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments to rapidly build, develop and trial cloud services with best-in-class performance guarantees. The lab provides a free, turnkey, proof-of-concept environment combining software, connectivity, systems and collocation capabilities.
"Enterprises across Europe are looking to the cloud to accelerate their high priority business initiatives," said Paul Holt, vice president of EMEA Sales at Eucalyptus. "Through its work with Eucalyptus, Interxion is providing customers with an open, scalable and secure Test Lab for AWS-compatible clouds. Customers can easily test how applications and services perform in the cloud, and more rapidly deliver high-quality applications to the market."
Eucalyptus maintains high-fidelity performance with the Amazon Web Services (News - Alert) (AWS) API, enabling cloud test lab customers to build and test a hybrid cloud deployment and move workloads between the test lab and the AWS cloud. Cloud hubs enable private cloud solutions to be deployed in close proximity to business and residential users, delivering a high-quality end-user experience. Users of the platforms in the test lab can connect directly with a cross-connect in the Interxion cloud hub data center or access the solution via the Internet connection provided by NL-ix and KPN (News - Alert) International.
"Interxion's Cloud Test Labs are targeted at companies that want to trial a private cloud before migrating it to a fully-functioning production environment," said Interxion's Cloud Marketing Manager Jelle Frank van der Zwet. "Our partnership with Eucalyptus for this Cloud Test Lab takes that one step further, giving systems integrators and enterprises the option to not only test the service in a private cloud environment, but also scale into a public cloud."
Interxion’s Frankfurt data center campus, one of the largest Internet hubs globally, gives access to more than 400 carriers and ISPs and houses the core infrastructure of the DE-CIX (News - Alert), the world’s largest Internet exchange in terms of peak traffic. The campus recently added more than 1,500 sqm of new equipped data center space, meeting the growing demands of customers who will benefit from Interxion’s “Connectivity Hub”, making Interxion Frankfurt the logical choice for connectivity-intensive companies, particularly in the digital media, financial services and cloud service segments.
Companies can sign up online at the Interxion website and apply for a free trial period for the new cloud test lab after July 1.
