Remote infrastructure management solution provider Opengear (News - Alert) recently won a new client in Layer42 Networks.
Layer42 Networks operates two state-of-the art data centers and specializes in metro Ethernet, waves, IP transit, data center and point-to-point connectivity. In order to make its data centers run more efficiently, the Bay area’s prominent colocation service provider Layer42 Networks has deployed the Opengear’s IM4200 & ACM5000 cellular out-of-band management solutions.
Opengear’s IM4200 & ACM5000 solutions are expected to help Layer42 achieve direct serial management connection for all of its geographically distributed data center servers and equipment, thereby ensuring highest level of uptime for its customers.
Leveraging the solution, the IT staff will be able to connect to geographically distributed remote locations independently of a primary network connection and monitor its distributed IT infrastructure equipment including core switches, routers, access points, firewalls, load balancers and servers. The solutions also provide a unique ability to automate power reboots and manage UPS systems. By providing remote visibility of the equipment, the solutions are supposed to eliminate the need for on-site technician visits, ultimately reducing technical support costs.
Using the solution, Layer42 is expected to gain ability to offer a wide variety of form factors to serve both small and large installations, Opengear explained in a statement.
In a news statement, COO of Layer42 Networks Dan Fitzpatrick acknowledged that as a result of the deployment of 30 ACM5004-G/GV and several IM4200 advanced console servers, the company achieved considerable saving. Thanks to the solutions, the company’s remotely located networking equipment is now connected, significantly improving the company’s network management capabilities.
“Carrier-class data center customers expect carrier-class business continuity solutions to meet the demanding needs of their clients. By deploying our cellular out-of-band products, Layer42 Networks leverages the flexibility of our platform to gain a competitive edge in the business of high availability networks,” said Todd Rychecky (News - Alert), vice president of sales at Opengear, noted in a statement.
Opengear recently appointed Derek Watkins as its new director of sales for EMEA. Moreover, the company has selected TD Tech, a division of Trend Distribution AS (TD Nordic) to offer Opengear solutions across the Nordic region.
