Data centers are an integral part of businesses. Major companies all over the world rely on data centers to procure, store and use important and sensitive data about their business.
Looking to explore the opportunities in business exchange data center domain, Equinix (News - Alert) has decided to invest $43 million in this field. According to the company, the new data center will be set up in Otemachi, Tokyo.
The new TY4 IBX data center will be equipped with a capacity of 750 cabinet equivalents. It will connect the company’s three other IBX data centers in the same city with the help of direct fiber connectivity technology. The customers of Equinix can also be closer to important financial exchanges in Otemachi and decrease IP transit with this new opening of data center from Equinix.
Equinix International Business Exchange data centers help users to protect the valuable information about their business. These data centers are equipped with N+1 (or greater) redundancy, which reportedly provides 99.999 percent uptime. These data centers also allow users to control access to the data centers in order to safeguard the information.
The company’s IBX data centers are in demand. The company’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong and Tokyo were selected by IPC Systems (News - Alert) Inc. to offer innovative trading communication solutions to address the growing demand for smarter and faster trading in key financial centers in the Asia-Pacific region.
“Tokyo is a strategic market for Equinix as it is one of the largest data center markets worldwide and a primary gateway for traffic from the U.S. to Asia,” stated Kei Furuta, managing director, Equinix Japan K.K. “We believe our expanded presence in Japan will give our customers greater access to global network connectivity and capitalize on the opportunities presented by the Japanese market. We would like to thank Mitsubishi (News - Alert) Estate for its support in securing ‘Otemachi Financial City’ for our TY4 data center.”
