Interactive Voice Response (IVR) service provider Nuance (News - Alert) Communications has come up with yet another innovation for its Dragon voice recognition software -- Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12, designed to let people “stop typing and start talking” with their PCs.
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12, according to Nuance, is the “most accurate and easy-to-use version of Dragon” powered by more than 100 new features and enhancements. The latest enhancement brings voice recognition to the PC, so that users can create content by talking to their PC. They can also control their PC using voice commands.
With its immense capabilities Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12 changes the way people work, communicate and live. They can cruise through e-mail, update social media status, surf the Web and create reports without the help of keys.
“Dragon 12 is a remarkable leap forward in voice recognition technology. With Dragon’s increased accuracy, speed and more than 100 new features and enhancements, the technology simply disappears and your ideas flow onto the screen in front of you,” said Peter Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Nuance and senior vice president, general manager, Dragon, in a statement.
“Voice is transforming the way people engage with their PCs, tablets, phones, TVs and cars,” Mahoney added. “And with Nuance’s Dragon at the heart of it– people are experiencing faster, simpler, more natural ways to communicate with the world around them.”
Dragon voice recognition has intruded everywhere-- from PCs to mobile devices to cars and even living rooms. It is also powering some of the leading portfolio of voice technologies for consumers and manufacturers, including Dragon Dictation, Dragon Go!, Dragon TV, Dragon Drive! and Dragon ID.
The new version of the voice recognition solution is more accurate--up to 20 percent out of the box over Version 11. A new interactive tutorial is available to walk people through fun exercises that demonstrate best practices for dictating, editing and formatting to get up and running quickly. Dragon speech recognition works at the speed of sound.
Dragon 12 also incorporates Smart Format Rules to automatically detects word, phrase and format corrections, including abbreviations, numbers and more, so dictated letters, e-mails and documents reflect a person’s own writing style every time. The software also gives the ability to correct words and phrases even faster and easier with more words, and more likely alternate word choices in the correction list.
The IVR solution has seen rapid adoption in healthcare segment. Most recently Dragon announced that Providence Health & Services has deployed Dragon Medical 360 | Network Edition to make medical voice recognition available at 27 hospitals and 250 clinics.
The IVR deployment also supports Providence's rollout of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system by empowering clinical staff to document and navigate the EHR by speaking.
