By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

U.S. President Barack Obama has appointed Lisa Hook (News - Alert), the president and CEO of least cost routing solutions provider Neustar, to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.

The President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee was formed to provide the U.S. Government the best possible telecommunications industry advice on critical national security and emergency preparedness issues. The committee brings together up to 30 industry chief executives from major telecommunications companies, network service providers, information technology, finance, and aerospace companies. One of the main objectives of the committee is to help the government maintain a reliable, secure, and resilient national communications posture.

In a press release, Lisa Hook said that she is honored to have been selected to join the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee and is looking forward to working with other members of the committees to offer the U.S. President with critical advice aimed at ensuring the reliability, preparedness and security of the country’s increasingly complex Internet and telecommunications infrastructure.

Neustar offers carriers and enterprises with solutions for sending calls, messages and content across networks around the globe. By ensuring that billions of messages, voice calls and Internet queries are properly and securely routed each day, Neustar is a natural fit for the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.

With 25 years of experience, Hook held leadership positions at a number of Fortune 500 companies including AOL, Time Warner and Viacom (News - Alert). As an attorney, she also was the senior advisor at the Federal Communications Commission. Hook also serves on a number of other corporate and non-profit boards, including Reed Elsevier (News - Alert) PLC, Reed Elsevier NV, Reed Elsevier Group PLC, and the Ocean Foundation.
