TNS Enables Least Cost Routing with Enhanced Solution

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Managing Editor

Publicly traded company Transaction Network Services (TNS (News - Alert)) has recently released a new solution dubbed “Enhanced Routing,” which they are touting as a breakthrough, intelligent least cost routing solution. It features the e-Identity solution suite, which is designed to lower operating costs and resolve routing challenges.

The new solution is offered in a managed services model and combined the benefits of least cost routing and hosted services. By integrating routing and peering capabilities with next generation connectivity such as IPX, the Enhanced Routing solution is purported to be a complete solution for lowering long distance costs as well as managing quality of service and bilateral agreements.

In a statement, Dan Dooley, president of the telecommunications services division at TNS said, “We’re very excited to bring Enhanced Routing to the market because inefficient routing can be costly for carriers. TNS integrates a least cost routing engine with additional intelligent routing services such as Enhanced 8XX, Local Number Portability and Carrier ENUM, giving carriers access to improved routing and direct peering with a single query.”

The solution can be implemented without capital expenditure or maintenance costs. It is available to customers who might otherwise have been unable to afford least cost routing solutions. TNS also offers automation which leads to efficiency gains, and extensive reporting allows for evaluation and insight into traffic patterns, rate sheet errors and profitability analysis.

Dooley went on to say, “The telecommunications marketplace is dynamic, replete with regulatory change and shifting competitive forces. The TNS managed service model gives carriers the flexibility and service options required to remain agile and respond quickly to the changing market. As traditional long distance services become more mature, we will continue to develop services that yield margin control and operational efficiency. Our customers have depended on TNS to route their communications for many years; now we provide them with the tools to make real-time routing decisions and manage their interconnection partners in the most cost-effective manner. This is the core value behind our e-Identity solution suite.”
