Coyote Point Systems (News - Alert), a load balancer company that helps its customers balance price with performance and utility, is asking for a little help from its customers. Coyote Point is looking for individuals to participate in an open beta program to help Coyote Point validate the features and functionality that will be included in the initial release of the new EQ/OS 10 platform.
Today, the load balancer leader announced the launch of the open beta program for the new EQ/OS 10 firmware release for the company’s Equalizer GX Application Delivery Controller (ADC (News
- Alert)) product family. EQ/OS 10 is a complete architectural redesign of Coyote Point’s Equalizer operating system that leverages advances in networking and processor technologies to provide a scalable, extensible and maintainable foundation for future generations of Coyote Point products. The entire Equalizer GX line will see new enhancements once the EQ/OS 10 is released including improved management, hardened security and ease of use.
“EQ/OS 10 is the culmination of over two years of focused effort from our Research and Development organization,” said Bill Kish (News - Alert), Coyote Point’s Alpha Coyote and CTO, in a statement. “This ground-up re-architecture of our core Operating System will dramatically increase the performance of the current GX hardware, provide a superior feature set and create a better overall experience for Equalizer GX users. The release of EQ/OS 10 represents Coyote Point’s commitment to innovation and marks our position as a leader in advanced ADC solutions.”
During the beta program, participants will be allowed to install a pre-release version of the firmware on supported Equalizer GX platforms. Beta test participants will receive high priority support, enjoy direct interaction with the engineering team and have access to regular and frequent releases containing new features and fixes, according to company officials. The EQ/OS 10 will be available to the public this summer.
The updates in EQ/OS10 include a new AJAX-based GUI that has improved information accessibility, dashboards, alerts and drag and drop capabilities; a fully featured Command Line Interface (CLI), and i18N Internationalization to all for multilingual user interfaces.
Networking can be improved with the EQ/OS10 as it is fully IPv6 capable and can act as a gateway between IPv4 and IPv6 networks and it offers VLAN tagging and other physical layer networking improvements that are built in, resulting in better performance and easier IP network management.
With regards to performance, acceleration and security, the new release allows customers to utilize multiple CPUs or CPU cores to allow Equalizer systems to scale in performance and enjoy TCP and HTTP Multiplexing which will significantly reduce server resource utilization.
In other load balancer news, recently Canada’s University of Alberta School of Business deployed Coyote Point’s equalizers across the university’s Blackboard (News - Alert) Learning Management System network. The university deployed three Equalizer E450GX Application Delivery Controllers across three VMware ESXI servers to maintain continuous access to uLearn, their custom Web portal that links students and faculty to the Blackboard Learning Management System.
