Masergy Communications Creates Marketplace to Extend Master Agent Value

A new “Marketplace” has been created for Masergy Communications customers. The company, a global provider of secure, virtualized network services for large companies, announced recently that it plans use the Marketplace to offer customers information and access to services from enterprise-focused solution providers already connected to its network. 

This announcement was shared in a recent Channel Partners Online report. From its Plano, Texas-based headquarters, Masergy has designed its Marketplace to serve as a master agent portal to offer businesses an alternative to selecting a single vendor or managing multiple service providers. By simplifying the process, Masergy can extend increased value to its customer base, securing loyalty and driving increased market share. 

According to John Dumbleton, senior vice president of business development for Masergy, the company’s clients have always had the option to work with whatever technology partners they preferred. The new Masergy Marketplace simplifies the process of investigating products and services available from market solution providers. Masergy serves as the master agent, extending connections to providers already connected to the network, and creating custom solutions for customer businesses. 

A facilities-based MPLS service provider, Masergy offers its solutions primarily to global enterprises. The company has partnered as a master agent with 10 companies that deliver a full range of services, such as cloud computing, voice, data center and video services. Partners for this master agent include data center provider Equinix, cloud computing company Datapipe (News - Alert), voice solutions expert OneStream Networks and data center company Telx. 

Masergy’s director of product development, Andy Singleton, stressed that partners must be interconnected with Masergy’s network in order to benefit from its  marketplace. The company plans to add quite a few partners as they move along, yet Masergy does plan to be careful in their choices of potential partners. 

Relationships have been developed with some of Masergy’s Marketplace partners through the company’s network of distribution partners, primarily made up of systems integrators. Large distribution partners named in Masergy’s partner network include Avant Communications and Bridgepointe Technologies. 

Just last month, ABRY Partner, a private equity investment firm, completed the acquisition of Masergy for an undisclosed price, providing this master agent with access to extended resources and capabilities. This move should help to beef up the company’s efforts to extend out the value of its partner network, while its Marketplace can greatly enhance the value extended to the customer base.
