Alpheus Communications (News - Alert) says it has seen significant increases in the number of master agents in its channel program in the six months since the launch of the effort.
Channel partners of Alpheus include CSG Affiliates and RealCom Solutions out of Dallas, and consultIP and Simplified Communications Group in Houston. Alpheus also took this opportunity to mention that CSG Affiliates recently closed a deal to provide 1gbps data center connectivity, Internet access and private line to a firm in the financial services vertical.
“As an agent, I look very closely at a carrier’s customer service because it’s important that any customer issues are resolved quickly so that I have time to run and grow my business instead of getting bogged down in service issues. Alpheus provides very good customer service,” says Dale Stewart, president and CEO of CSG Affiliates. “We partnered with Alpheus because they are a very strong carrier in Texas where there is a high demand for heavier bandwidth and Ethernet services. You reach these buildings with fiber, and Alpheus has a great fiber network.”
TMCnet in an article earlier this year posted an article noting that Alpheus Communications had brought its deep fiber assets, data center and transport services in Texas to enterprise customers via select master agents. The 10-year-old company, which in December was sold to Los Angeles-based private equity firm The Gores Group, traditionally has sold its services on a wholesale basis to other service providers. It will continue to do that, but now is leveraging its network to address business customers as well, Scott Widham, who was named CEO of Alpheus following the company’s acquisition late last year, told TMCnet during an interview in early 2012.
Widham brought in Layne Levine, now Alpheus senior vice president of Enterprise Sales, to help it with that effort. Levine and Widham worked together a few years back at Broadwing (News - Alert) Communications, at which Widham was co-CEO and Levine was senior vice president of sales and support.
The Alpheus team at the time also noted they had signed an agreement with master agent Telarus. And Levine and Widham at that time said Alpheus expected to forge relationships with addition channel partners, but added that will consist of just a small handful of master agents.
