How the Master Agent Can Help Overcome Cloud Computing Myths

As much as decision makers throughout the corporate environment may know about the cloud, there are still a number of unknowns when it comes to the specifics of the technology, deployment and integration. Interestingly enough, the technologies behind the cloud computing terminology have been around a lot longer than this moniker, yet misconceptions and confusions still exist.

A recent report highlighted how a number of companies have identified great ways to utilize the cloud for their benefit. Many of these organizations have been able to become more agile, grow at a faster pace and add to the resiliency of their business. At the same time, there are still companies that have never really taken the step to work with an enterprise cloud as they continue to be held back by confusion and even myths about the technology.

The cloud is a diverse, vast model that can accommodate a variety of organizations. Whether the operation is public, private, hybrid or a community, cloud options exist to fit within those parameters. Without a clear understanding of what is available, how the organization fits within the model and the associated benefits, it can be difficult to make the decision to migrate to the cloud.

It is this kind of confusion that led to the creation of the “Five Myths of Cloud Computing,” a white paper from HP. This document outlines the key areas where business stakeholders and IT managers need to seek more clarification so they can make decisions that are both informed and best for the organization.

According to HP, the five myths include:

  • The public cloud is the most inexpensive way to procure IT services
  •  Baby steps in virtualization are the only way to reach the cloud
  • Critical applications do not belong in the cloud
  • All cloud security requirements are created equally
  • There is only one way to do cloud computing.

These myths are exactly why a master agent can lend considerable value to the organization. When the IT service provider and the master agent work together, they contribute to the creation of a complete unified communications solution. And, as cloud computing services continue to grow, the interdependence between the two will only increase as both sides of the solution demand improved efficiencies, extensive integration and unique customization.

The master agent serves as the source of the knowledge base for the IT service provider to ensure solutions are right-fitted according to the needs of the organization. The agent will first understand the goals and challenges that exist within the environment and then work in collaboration with all players to develop the right solution. It is a sure win for all involved, delivering on expectations and driving much needed results.
