Metro Ethernet: CoSentry Develops New Generation of PCI-Certified Cloud Platforms

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

CoSentry has completed construction of its latest generation of high-performance, PCI-certified cloud platforms.

Integrating with CenturyLink build fiber, the CoSentry (News - Alert) platform provides a unique new service -- the CoSentry Metro Cloud, according to company officials.

Mike Steffan, CEO at CoSentry, said that often, client-led innovation is the most meaningful because solutions can be created for a precise problem.

“That's what the Metro Cloud is about, clients asking us to provide a fully-integrated cloud solution that provides all networking, processing and storage elements in one convenient, managed service,” he said, adding that with the expansion of the CenturyLink network into all of the company’s data centers, it becomes affordable for any size client across a wide geography.

Available now from CoSentry, the service bundles robust local access links, Web and application servers, storage and backup services, Internet access and 24-hour help desk support into an affordable service.

CenturyLink-Nebraska has teamed-up with the CoSentry team on this project, said Danny Pate, vice president and general manager at CenturyLink-Nebraska, adding that both the companies have made considerable commitments to the Nebraska business community to make this possible.

“During the last several months, we have constructed high-capacity links into the CoSentry network and now we are helping to extend those network and data center services to create fresh, new benefits for CoSentry's Omaha data center clients,” Pate said.

The Metro Cloud service is said to have been created after a series of client forums on the use of cloud services. Company officials said that historically, access to cloud services required separate data and network services, often diminishing the potential cost savings of utilizing those cloud services.

Company officials said that the advantage of unifying large platforms and consolidated billing is the ability to deliver less expensive services, faster, regardless of the size or type of business.

“Metro Cloud gives credence to our prior announcement that by harnessing CenturyLink's network to power its secure cloud solutions, CoSentry can introduce cutting-edge services that companies need in an always-on world,” said Blake Wetzel, vice president of CenturyLink Channel Alliance. "We are gratified that our advanced Metro Ethernet network is providing the secure connectivity that is fueling CoSentry's product growth."

The Metro Cloud service is now available in Omaha with other communities expected to come online by year end.
