Lumos Networks is enabling its customers to connect seamlessly to locations around the world through its newly formed membership in the Equinix (News
- Alert) Ethernet Exchange.
Equinix helps bring connections to customers from around the globe and Ethernet Exchange connects Lumos Networks with other Ethernet Service Providers outside the Lumos Networks footprint.
This membership allows carriers to easily connect to Lumos Networks sites, at the same time as Lumos customers can connect outside the company’s Mid-Atlantic area of operation.
Membership in Equinix Ethernet Exchange also gives customers connectivity options up to 10G as a direct network to network interconnection.
Customers can save valuable time in ordering and provisioning connectivity to external sites via high speed Ethernet as well as provide Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert) certified connectivity with a seamless network both within and beyond the Lumos Networks footprint.
Membership in Equinix Ethernet Exchange is not the only milestone in Lumos Networks’ illustrious growth chart as the company recently earned certification as a Carrier Class Metro Ethernet Service provider from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF (News - Alert)).
“A big focus of the Ethernet technical community has become interconnectivity between Service providers,” said vice president of Product Management and Engineering Craig M. Drinkhall. “Lumos Networks’ participation in both Metro Ethernet Forum Certification and the Equinix Ethernet Exchange provides value to our current customers, and it also provides value to prospective customers who are looking for standards based, high quality Ethernet Services in our service footprint.”
Lumos Networks was in news earlier this year for announcing that Joseph E. McCourt, Jr. has been appointed as the company's executive vice president and chief revenue officer, effective May 29, 2012.
