MRV (News - Alert) Communications’ Optical Communications Systems Division (OCS) has expanded its OptiSwitch Carrier Ethernet Access portfolio with the introduction of a complete demarcation-to-aggregation solution which comprises of the OptiSwitch 906G and OptiSwitch 9244-1210G models.
MRV's OptiSwitch family is a line of compact Carrier Ethernet demarcation and first mile aggregation platforms designed to meet any Carrier Ethernet network requirement.
They range from the OS900 intelligent Ethernet demarcation portfolio to the OS9000 Carrier Ethernet packet-optical aggregation platform. OptiSwitch products offer service providers a full suite of Carrier-grade Ethernet services along with high-availability, Hierarchical Quality of Service (H-QoS), security, Ethernet OAM support, and TDM circuit emulation services.

- Alert) said that offering a best-of-breed Carrier Ethernet solution, these new products enable service providers to deliver next-generation services for a broad range of applications from business Ethernet to mobile backhaul to Internet Protocol television (IPTV) to Carrier Ethernet-enabled access to cloud services.
Company officials pointed out that as one of the first Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert) (MEF)-compliant Carrier Ethernet 2.0 solutions, the OptiSwitch product family continues to deliver unique capabilities that help service providers around the world deliver service level agreement (SLA)-based differentiated services providing a rapid return on investment (ROI).

Howard said that MRV's new OptiSwitch models are designed to help service providers create, offer and deliver new service options and higher capacities, including 10GE backbone transport for aggregated Carrier Ethernet traffic and 10GE port optimization for the provider edge.
