RAD Recognized for its Carrier Ethernet Access Solutions

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

RAD Data Communications (News - Alert) has won a Carrier Ethernet Award at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress.

The company has won this award for the second straight year and bested products from Cisco and Telco Systems (News - Alert) to take the award.

RAD was honored for the Best Carrier Ethernet Aggregation Product EMEA for its ETX-5300A Ethernet Service Aggregation Platform and notes that it won the award following selection by a panel of judges from leading industry analyst firms and telecom operators.

“This award, the third such one we've received in the past twelve months, confirms RAD's leadership role in developing the most advanced Carrier Ethernet access solutions the industry has to offer," said Amir Karo, vice president of Marketing at RAD Data Communications (News - Alert)

The ETX-5300A Ethernet Service Aggregation Platform can aggregate up to 80 GbE or 16 10GbE Access Links into Redundant 10GbE Ports. It enables operators to significantly reduce their operational costs per Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) link.

RAD Data Communications claims that ETX-5300A uses less than half the power consumption than any competitive product and frees up expensive PE capacity.

In addition, it significantly reduces CapEx and OpEx by cutting the price per link when working opposite RAD's ETX Carrier Ethernet demarcation devices.

ETX-5300A can also be deployed to deliver SLA-based business Ethernet services.

"The ETX-5300A can be used to provide timing-over-packet services in wholesale networks and serve as a single instrument for empowering the convergence of business and mobile network services over the same infrastructure," said Eyal Aloni, RAD's ETX Portfolio Manager.

RAD Data Communications recently donated $55,000 worth of its ETX-202A Ethernet demarcation devices to the AT&T (News - Alert) Lab of the College of Technology at the University of Houston.
