Demonstrating its strength in the carrier Ethernet services space, GTS Central Europe (GTS), recently bagged two prestigious industry awards from the MEF (Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert)), a global industry alliance comprising more than 200 organizations including telecommunications service providers, cable MSOs, network equipment/software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations.

The company representatives received the ”Best Wholesale Ethernet Service” and “Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application” awards at the recently concluded Carrier Ethernet World Congress in Barcelona. The winning of the awards for a second consecutive year reinforces GTS’ leadership position in the EMEA region and proves the popularity of its suite of Ethernet products.

The Best Carrier Ethernet Business Application was presented to the Slovakia Broadcast and Television company. The fully managed Ethernet Media Line supported the broadcast of the 2011 IIHF World Championship tournament.

The Best Wholesale Ethernet Service award recognizes GTS’ effort in extending Ethernet services availability and reach within the region. The Ethernet services are now delivered in nine additional central and eastern European countries, followed by the company’s membership in the Ethernet Exchanges ancotel and Equinix (News - Alert) in Frankfurt.

A few months back, it was reported that GTS expanded its service offerings for the Czech National Bank (CNB), one of its long-standing clients. CNB is the central bank of the Czech Republic and the supervisory organ of the financial market. As a part of its ongoing modernization process, the bank selected the IaaS version of GTS Virtual Hosting solution, believed to enable the bank to meet their IT-upgrade requirements.
