Numara Completes Phase 1 of Cloud Strategy with the Acquisition of Mobile Device Management Firm

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Numara Software (News - Alert), a provider of service management and PC lifecycle management solutions for IT professionals, has just completed the first phase of its ITOM cloud strategy with the acquisition of mobile device management provider Fromdistance.

The cloud strategy focuses on delivering the first comprehensive cloud portfolio that seamlessly enables IT management to integrate mobile device, service and endpoint lifecycle management, and present these ITOM capabilities to the IT support staff in a single platform.

“Companies have rushed to bring to the market cloud solutions that only address a small segment of IT management issues with no one fully integrating service management and device management solutions; until now,” said Dave Hansen, Numara CEO, in a statement.

“With the Fromdistance acquisition and the integration of our cloud-based service and endpoint management technologies, we are raising the bar by delivering end to end cloud-based IT operations management,” Hansen added. “This enables us to deliver device management tools, whether they are physical, virtual or mobile, as well as the essential service management tools that orchestrate the overall IT service.”

Numara’s mobile device management solutions are capable of addressing the full portfolio of mobile device, endpoint lifecycle and service management. With these solutions, companies can get a single cloud-based solution that has the ability to manage, secure, control, track, remediate and retire all devices whether they are servers, desktops, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

“It is inefficient and costly for companies to use multiple cloud providers for expertise in certain areas of IT management,” said Matt Dircks, vice president of products at Numara, in a statement. “When it comes to deploying cloud solutions, customers are demanding a flexible, secure and integrated solution.”

The new cloud portfolio and expanded mobile device management capabilities have positioned the company as a single supplier of cloud solutions that customers have requested, Dircks said.

The Fromdistance acquisition will not only benefit existing Numara customers who can perform mobile device management from a single platform, but will benefit Fromdistance customers and partners as well. Companies will also be reap the benefits of this solution through being able to integrate their mobile solutions with service and endpoint lifecycle management solutions.
