Absolute Software Corporation, a provider of firmware-embedded endpoint security and mobile device management solutions has unveiled Absolute Manage 6.0, a single, unified console that natively enables IT administrators to efficiently manage all of their Mac, PC, Android (News - Alert) and iOS devices.

Absolute Manage 6.0, which combines mobile device management capabilities with a systems lifecycle management solution, includes several new features including AbsoluteSafe, scheduled policies, policy-locked configuration profiles, and management for Android devices.

The new mobile device management software automates IT processes such as software distribution, patch management, asset inventory and tracks installed applications and licenses, while redeploying under-used licenses and hardware. This allows organizations to reduce IT costs while maximizing inventory utilization.

With this advanced mobile device management capability, organizations can completely avoid non-compliance fines and implement power management policies to reduce energy consumption.  In addition, customers can manage apps, collect asset inventory and security data, perform configuration management tasks, and rapidly respond to security incidents in Android and iOS devices.

“With the release of Absolute Manage 6.0, our customers can apply the highest standard of endpoint management and security across a variety of form factors and operating systems,” said Peter Frankl, vice president, Lifecycle Management at Absolute, in a statement.

“In addition, our customers are excited about AbsoluteSafe as it is an industry breakthrough technology delivering unparalleled control to securely manage company data residing on iOS devices within their deployment,” Frankl added.

Absolute is witnessing a rapid increase in demand for mobile device management solutions. Last year, the company doubled the sales of its mobile solutions and the company views this as an excellent opportunity to accelerate their business growth supporting PC’s and Mac’s too.

“We believe the launching of industry first features, such as AbsoluteSafe, and offering our customers a unified, cross-platform console will help further accelerate our expansion into the systems lifecycle and mobile device management markets,” John Livingston, chief executive officer at Absolute commented.

iOS 5 is expected to create a huge impact in organizations that adopt BYOD (bring your own device) policy. Recently, TMCnet reported that MobileIron, a provider of mobile device management solutions supports iOS 5, the latest operating system for Apple (News - Alert) mobile devices.

With iOS5 support on these mobile device management solutions, enterprise IT will now have much more visibility into exactly what is taking place within a device, thus making it much less complex and safer for employees to utilize their personal iOS devices in a corporate environment.
