BMC Software Inc. has introduced a mobile device management solution powered by AirWatch (News - Alert), which is a Gartner Magic Quadrant company in this space. But the BMC offering goes beyond just the mobile device; it also incorporates applications and content. 

“It’s dangerously shortsighted for organizations to focus solely on device management without considering the implications that mobile content and applications have on the business,” says BMC CTO Kia Behnia. “It is like trying to construct a building without understanding what it will be used for.”

In addition to providing control of mobile devices, BMC is outfitting IT management with mobility apps that bring BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite to mobile workers. 

“Previously, any help-desk issue that needed to be resolved was sent to the IT department from the support technicians’ desks, resulting in lengthy delays and an overall loss in productivity,” says Mike Campbell, BMC Remedy implementation manager at Dev Technology Group. “By upgrading to BMC’s secure, mobile ITSM solution, we’ve seen Federal customers increase their IT efficiency and process agility. This enables them to achieve their mission, which is to serve and protect the nation.”

BMC provides a comprehensive portfolio of heterogeneous, integrated IT management solutions to enterprises of all sizes around the world. That includes server, storage, network, and client devices, and software for both enterprise customers as well service providers, Brad Kern, vice president of alliances, strategy and corporate development at BMC told TMCnet during a meeting earlier this month at Cisco (News - Alert) Live. Kern adds that BMC, which is a leader in business service management, is branching out into the cloud space, and that its partners will be “a very viable distribution means for us on that front.”

Among BMC’s partners are Akamai (News - Alert), with which it is working to deliver end user experience monitoring; Cisco, which BMC collaborates on a cloud lifecycle management solution; and Salesforce.com.
