Awareness of Mobile Device Management and Security on the Rise

By Allison Boccamazzo, Managing Content Producer

Mobile device management and security is on the rise, and especially in light of the recent incident concerning tech journalist Mat Honan – whose iPhone (News - Alert), iPad, and MacBook data were all remotely erased in merely one hour due to a skilled hacker – it’s become clearer than ever that the security solutions being put in place are no longer cutting it.

One company, Symanetc, is working to address this problem. Symantec (News - Alert) helps both customers and organizations secure and manage their private and valuable information while working in the public sector. Recently, the company released its all new Nukona app center for additional mobile device management, which protects and secures mobile devices being used in the public sector.

TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) sat down with Senior Director of Product Management of Symantec, Chris Perret, who elaborated on this latest advancement and how protecting app information allows employees to be most productive and satisfied.

Recently, Symantec also released several upgrades to its mobile security apps to ensure that employers no longer need to worry about the bring your own device (BYOD) trend among employees for accessing office data.

These new upgrades will allow businesses with Android (News - Alert) phones to offer their employees secure mobile email, secure app initiatives and BYOD programs, according to this recently published article.

Furthermore, the company recently announced new valuable capabilities for managed service providers (MSPs), where they will now be able to more easily, flexibly, and efficiently use Symantec’s backup and security solutions as managed services.

“As many of Symantec's partners transition their businesses to a managed service provider model, Symantec's commitment to MSPs delivers more opportunities to drive greater profitability and efficiency, and an improved customer experience for all types of service providers,” said Stephen Banbury, vice president, channel and alliance marketing, SMB and .cloud, Symantec.
