New Version of MobileIron Released, Solves Two Critical Mobile IT Challenges

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

Mobile IT company MobileIron has released its newest version of MobileIron, touting that it is the first platform to solve two distinct mobile IT challenges: data loss prevention (DLP) for iOS e-mail attachments and real-world scale for global deployments.

With this new version, Mobile IT can now prevent corporate e-mail attachments from being uploaded from native iOS e-mail to consumer services such as Dropbox (News - Alert), according to company officials.

The MobileIron V5 enables Mobile IT to deploy 100,000 devices on a single server – 20 times more than any other vendor. Additionally, users can manage multiple servers through a central console for even larger deployments, as well as deliver gigabyte-sized apps without latency via MobileIron's App Delivery Network.

Furthermore, Mobile TV can now manage hundreds of thousands of mobile certificates per customer and register hundreds of devices simultaneously per customer, company officials said.

Additionally, MobileIron V5 enables Docs@Work, a secure document container that provides mobile DLP solution for iOS e-mail attachments. DLP solution, or data leakage prevention solution, monitors as well as protects confidential data.

Ojas Rege, vice president for strategy at MobileIron, said that MobileIron Docs@Work gives the company’s customers the mobile DLP controls they need without sacrificing the native Apple (News - Alert) e-mail experience their end users know and love.

“Combined with a massive increase in scale, MobileIron V5 breaks down the last barriers to the global deployment of iOS in large, regulated industries such as financial services” Rege added.

Thanks to MobileIron V5 and Docs@Work, Mobile IT can protect iOS e-mail attachments; prevent unauthorized distribution of documents; provide secure access to SharePoint; control, cut, copy and paste actions; and store and selectively wipe documents.

The scalable architecture of MobileIron V5 supports100, 000 devices fully configured with e-mail, apps, Wi-Fi, VPN, and certificates per server.  Company officials said that MobileIron V5 is the only Mobile IT platform to be purpose-built for the real-world security and scale requirements of Global 2000 companies.

“With MobileIron V5, we are addressing scalability needs other Mobile IT platforms have not even begun to consider. This is why the largest companies in the world use MobileIron to power their global mobility initiatives,” Rege added.

Earlier in August, In Practice Systems (INPS), a supplier of clinical software solutions, deployed MobileIron’s solution to secure and manage its corporate mobile devices.
